A word

, please.

What do you want to do with your free Saturday?
Different from yesterday.

The possibilities are endless, which does not ease the restlessness.

For none have raised their hand and said, “Pick me!”
You see?

So you sit free from noise, from the TV, phone, CD player, and even the smart watch.
Waiting for something to hatch.

Silence is welcomed.
A guest seldom invited.

What shall we do today?
Lest the day gets away.

Silence responds.
For there is no answer beyond.

You ask, shall we read a book? Fiction or textbook.
In the reading nook?

Never say never, but not right now.
Though we are allowed.

Writing then. There is a journal manuscript we could work on, our creative writing workshops, or our dark fantasy short stories?
So many categories.

Not right now.
They may take a bow.

A crochet day?
Not right now, for today already has sweat on the brow.

Switch games?
The weeds to tame or goblins to defame.
Not right now.
Cannot think somehow.

What did doctorate student-you, or health-worker-you, dream you would do with your Saturdays?
Any free days?
Relax, no pressure. Watch telly or go out for a walk, or somewhere to sit and have a drink with no rushing, OR crushing.

Why don’t we do that then?
Watch TV or go for a walk?

The thought of a walk or picking out something to watch has made me tired already.
We would need to be ready.

As riveting as the prattling was, the body decided to sleep.
Very deeply.

Only to be woken by the knock on the door.
Feet quick on the floor.

What shall we do this afternoon?
